Wooden Spike
You can add contact damage to a base using only wood. Placed spikes repeatedly damage nearby enemies and push players and zombies away.
Mechanics
Section titled “Mechanics”A placed spike is ready to attack immediately. It damages enemy
players,
zombies and enemy structures, except
the
Landmine. It can also damage
TNT, including TNT
placed by you or your group. It does not damage the
Reaper. You and allies in
groups are safe from its contact damage. Players who have
the
Spawn protection effect take no damage or knockback.
All spike tiers share your building limit, and destruction frees a place. Your spikes stay when you die and still count against the limit after respawn. Leaving the server removes them.
Comparison
Section titled “Comparison”| Structure | Health | Cost | Limit | Base destroy reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 120 | 16 | |||
| 200 | 16 | |||
| 300 | 16 |
The
Stone Spike deals 5 base contact damage to
players, zombies and enemy structures. The
Reinforced Stone Spike raises that to
8. Upgrading increases health and contact damage without changing
the attack rate or reach.
Unlocking
Section titled “Unlocking”Spend 1 structure point from level 3 in the structure trees to add the build item to your hotbar. Unlocking costs no resources; you pay the building cost on each successful placement.
From level 6, spending another structure point replaces the Wooden Spike build item with the Stone Spike. Already placed Wooden Spikes keep their tier and continue to count against the shared limit.
Hold the Damage own structures key (Shift by default) while using melee attacks to remove your lower-tier spikes and free places for upgraded ones. Removing your own spikes gives no destroy reward. Switch away from the build item between placements to avoid its reduced movement speed.
