Groups

You can team up with 5 other players to share friendly-fire protection and friendly structures. Your group tag appears beside your name on the server leaderboard, while structure ownership stays with whoever built each structure.

Maximum members, including the owner6
Maximum tag length4 characters
Invite code length12 characters
  1. Select the Group button to open the Groups panel while connected to a server. Leave your group first if you already belong to a group; you cannot create or join another while still a member.
  2. Under Create a group, enter a Tag. Letters become uppercase when you create the group, and the tag cannot match another group’s tag on that server. Spaces and punctuation are kept, so check the tag before creating it.
  3. Anyone can join starts checked. Clear it if you want an invite-only group, then select Create. You become the owner and appear in the member list.
  4. Select Copy invite link under Invite friends and share it with the players you want to join. Every member can copy the link. If copying fails, the panel selects the link for manual copying. The link includes your server, so opening it takes your friends to the same server.

Open groups appear under Public groups with their member count and a Join button. Invite-only groups do not appear there. Both joining methods require a free place; an invite cannot bypass a full group, and the public button changes to Full when no place remains.

Opening an invite link takes you to the server it names and joins the group as soon as you are connected, unless you already belong to a group. You can also paste the code or complete link into Join with an invite and select Join. Invite codes are case-sensitive. Pasting always joins on the server you are on and ignores the server a link names. An invite works only on its group’s server, so open the link instead when the group plays elsewhere.

The owner can change Anyone can join after creation. Closing the group removes it from Public groups but keeps its invite usable. Kicking someone does not invalidate the link or block them from joining again with it, so closing a group alone does not keep an invited player out.

Only the owner has Kick buttons beside other members and can change access. Anyone can select Leave group. If the owner leaves or disconnects, ownership passes to the remaining member who joined earliest. When nobody remains, the group disappears, its invite stops working, and its tag becomes available again. Death and respawn keep your membership and your place in the member list.

Joining makes your existing structures friendly to the group, except for TNT. Leaving or being kicked moves those structures back to your side without changing their owner. Disconnecting removes your structures from the world. Your structure limits stay separate: a member at their limit cannot use someone else’s unused places.

Normal melee hits and projectiles do not damage group members or friendly structures. A Wooden Spike also spares friendly targets. Holding the Damage own structures key (Shift by default) lets you damage any member’s friendly structures with melee hits. Each hit removes 20% of maximum health regardless of the weapon. The key does not let you attack teammates.

Explosions still damage group members and their structures. TNT and Landmine blasts ignore the normal friendly damage protection, so stay outside their blast areas. See combat for the other damage rules.

  • Clear Anyone can join when you want to choose who joins. Every admitted member can pass the invite on, and a kicked player with the link can rejoin while a place is free.
  • Release the Damage own structures key before fighting beside your base. It lets your melee hits remove teammates’ structures as well as your own.
  • Check nearby defenses before leaving a group. Leaving removes friendly-fire protection between you and your former group.
