Player messages go to everyone on your server, including players outside your group.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Sending messages
Section titled “Sending messages”You can send messages while your character is alive. Use Open chat, or hover over the panel and click the message box. On touch controls, tap the chat button and use Send. A message made only of spaces sends nothing.
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Open chat (Enter by default) | Opens the message box and preserves any draft. |
| Enter while typing | Sends the message and leaves the message box. |
| Esc while typing | Discards the draft and leaves the message box. |
| Chat button on desktop | Hides or shows the panel without erasing the draft. |
| Chat button on touch controls | Opens the message box, or discards the draft if already typing. |
History
Section titled “History”On desktop, messages fade as they age while chat is idle. Hover over the panel or open the message box to reveal the history. On touch controls, tap the chat button to view it.
Scroll up to read older messages and return to the bottom to follow incoming messages. The oldest entries disappear as the history fills. On desktop, hiding the panel still lets it receive messages; showing it again scrolls to the latest entries.
Limits and fading
Section titled “Limits and fading”| Message length limit | 40 characters |
