Shields
The
Basic Shield,
Shield and
Great Shield
protect you from attacks they intercept while equipped. Holding a shield leaves you
at 70 % of normal speed.
Mechanics
Section titled “Mechanics”Equip a shield to block; there is no separate block input. Turn your aim toward incoming attacks. Switching to another item stops shield protection. Higher tiers cover a wider area.
All tiers reduce knockback by 50 % when they intercept melee
attacks, projectiles or
spikes. Shields do not reduce spike
damage.
The Shield and Great Shield can reflect a melee hit back at its attacker, preventing that hit’s damage and knockback to you. Projectiles never reflect.
Blocking or reflecting a
spear hit does not prevent
its
Slowed effect if you survive.
Comparison
Section titled “Comparison”| Shield | Melee damage blocked (%) | Projectile damage blocked (%) | Melee reflection chance (%) | Minimum level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | 65 | 0 | 5 | |
| 55 | 80 | 8 | 11 | |
| 70 | 95 | 12 | 14 |
Choosing a tier
Section titled “Choosing a tier”Spend secondary upgrade points to follow the shield branch in order, starting with the Basic Shield. Later picks replace your previous shield. Each upgrade costs no resources and keeps the same speed while held. Shields and bows are alternative branches of the secondary tree.
